  1. Being an Honors student means that you not only achieve good grades, but you also want them. You are a role model for other students. Usually you feel bored in normal classes, so you are put in honors to get harder work to do. The good things about this are that you are stimulated, and learning faster than you would normally. The cons are that this may be stressful, because a lot is expected of you. People are often thought to be smart because they are in honors, but I feel like anyone who works hard or tries would do fine in honors.

  2. To be an honors english student means that you are used as an example for other students to look up to. It means you put in all your effort and try harder than other students typically would and this is shown through better grades. Some benefits of having this label is having other students look up to you. Another benefit is having the experience of higher level and harder classes that can prepare you for college or other post secondary education. You also get harder work in your classes that stimulate your brain and challenges you to learn at a higher level. Some of the drawbacks of having this label is the expectation to do better and to get better grades. This can cause stress at school and at home. At school you are expected to do well and some parents have consequences with bad grades. This makes it more important to get good grades and it is sometimes harder to achieve with these higher level classes.

  3. To be an honors student means to be above average. It means to be ahead of your peers in certain areas of education, and most importantly it means to be a leader and role model. Most of the time honors students are held to a higher standard because teachers know we can do advanced things. Being an honors student can be a great thing. For example, when you are in an honors class, the students are treated with more respect, and given more responsibility rather than a normal classroom. At the same time you are receiving a higher level of education than you would in a normal setting, which allows you to better prepare for your future not only quicker but more efficiently. However there are some drawbacks. First off, honors students are expected to get high grades and to succeed, putting lots of pressure on them and their school work.

  4. Felicity Gibson-To be an honors student means you are more advanced. This means that you are dedicated and motivated to achieve good grades. You have specific requirements that you are expected to meet. Most people that are in honors are role models and people look up to you. Some benefits of being an honors student, you may have a better gpa and may do better on the act. You get better grades because they are expected of you. You are given more privileges than the normal classes in my opinion. Also you are receiving a better education and you are on a higher level which will help you in life in the long run because it will look good on your records. Some of the drawbacks (which there are not very many in my opinion) are, you may become more stressful because of the deadlines and the amount of work you have to do but when you get it done you feel really good and more accomplished. The last drawback of being an honors student is the consequences that come with honors. If you don’t keep up and you get behind or you don’t try then you will receive bad grades which then if your parents expect a lot out of you you may get in trouble. But these drawbacks can be avoided if you study and you try really hard. Being an honors student is a very big deal.

  5. Being an honors student means that you are responsible and have a good work ethic. It also means that you are able to learn the material at a faster pace and you want to succeed. Being an honors student is beneficial, because we can work even harder and see our potential. An honors class allows you to work on the same material as the other classes, but in more depth and with more responsibility. It is also beneficial in regards to college and future opportunities, and opportunities throughout highschool. Being an honors student is a great way to prepare for AP and Dual Credit classes, because we will already be used to extra responsibilities and learning time management. Some drawbacks regarding this label is sometimes we have more work than other classes, and have higher expectations with teachers. It can also be difficult keeping up with responsibilities. With extra work in multiple classes, it can be easy to fall behind. However, learning how to manage our time wisely and keep a good work ethic will be worth it in the long run. If you continue to work hard, you can succeed in even more, and also stay on your teachers good side, because they will know that you are dependable and want to succeed.

Some benefits are I get to learn at a higher level, and I get more freedom during projects. 7. To be an honors student means making mistakes and learning from them. It means trying and trying and giving it your all. Then, after all your hard work, you finally get what you deserve. Benefits that come with this label include having harder classes, challenging questions, gaining respect, and to be a role model. However, the cons of this title means that you have more responsibility. You are challenged to make mistakes and learn from them. It does not mean that you are intelligent, it means that you are willing to work to achieve your goals and become a better student. You become stressed, agitated, and want to just quit because it becomes “too difficult” but by the end, you finally see all your hard work pay off.

  8. To be an honors student means that you excel in a certain subject and are held to a higher grading standard (above grade level) than kids who are at grade level understanding. It also means that you are seen as a role model or are looked upon as a leader in certain aspects of school work or even outside life. When you’re an honors student, it means you need to keep good grades and be a good person in society in order to succeed in life. It means that you are dedicated to maintain and achieve good grades and not fall behind. Also, you are used as an example for other students who may be struggling in school, falling behind, or not fully grasping a subject. A few benefits of being an honors student are having a greater chance of getting into college, scoring better on tests such as the ACT, and having a good GPA. There are also some drawbacks from being an honors student, such as, being busy from studying and not having time for fun or stress relief. Another drawback is if you fall a little behind in school your teachers get a little upset and so do your parents. Even with the drawbacks being an honors student is worth some stress.

  10. Being an Honors student means a lot of things. It means that there are higher expectations, harder classes, as well as more work. Everything about being an honors student isn’t bad though. We all get put together and we all make each other better. If we were in the same classroom as some not as intelligent kids then we would not have the same friendships and wouldn’t learn as much. Some benefits of being an honors student are more privileges. Since we are held to so much of a standard we do get rewarded for it, for being smart we get to do things like go to the cafeteria for 5th hour or go to the middle school for K-PREP. The bad things about being an honors student is that you might have higher expectations put on you, so you have to be the responsible person in situations that would be bad for other people. Also, the teachers may give us more homework or something because they want us to be smarter or do more things and show that we are higher kids, and when we were smaller we had to take more test to show that we were higher up and could be put in the right classes.

  11. To be an honors student means that you are held to a higher grading standard than kids who are at grade level standards which means we have more responsibility on us to retain our grades. It also means that you are somewhat of a role model or as a tutor for students consisting of school work or sometimes outside life. When you’re an honors student it means you need to keep good grades and be a “good person” to do well in multiple aspects of life. You may be used as an example for other students who are struggling and can be used as a resource for them to rely on. Some bad things about being considered an honor student or being in honors classes is the pressure to remain in that honors position and maintain good grades no matter what. Sometimes we have to skip out on being teenagers and having fun because we have to be role models or tutors and work hard to not fall behind our place of being “good kids”. ~ Savannah
